We are
looking for a Senior Reporter to join our PhocusWire team. You will be responsible
for writing and steering our daily coverage of the travel industry. You will
have a broad mandate to find and cover the most interesting developments in the
market, including emerging technology innovations and their applications,
strategic trends, start-up funding, mergers and acquisitions, product launches
and breaking news, and will be tasked with interviewing the most influential
executives in the travel industry.
The position will
also support the Editor in Chief and News Editor in shaping the wider editorial
strategy of the brand and in executing other digital initiatives, such as
video, webinar, podcasts and appearances at live events.
This is a remote position and is open to candidates based
in the United States. We also have an office in Secaucus, New Jersey for those

Who
You Are:
- An experienced
journalist (or one keen to take the next step within a media brand) who
will oversee copy and steer coverage of news and other content related to
their beat
- Ability to
produce and edit copy to deadline, ensuring content is both accurate and
will resonate with readers
- Curiosity
and willingness to dig up stories
- Familiarity
with content management systems, newsletter platforms, social media and
SEO techniques and eager to help shape the wider editorial strategy of the
brand
- Experience
as a reporter on a daily, web-based news service or weekly title.
- Knowledge of
the travel, tourism and hospitality industry is useful but not a
prerequisite
- Ability to
decipher emerging technology trends
- Self-organized
and adept at working remotely as part of the editorial team, all of whom
are currently based in separate locations
- Excellent
communications skills, including an ability to represent the brand at live
events
- Solid
knowledge of issues in the wider e-commerce and technology sectors
- Ability to
work on exclusive, investigative articles, drawing on own contacts and
tip-offs
- Creative
thinker who wants to contribute to overall strategy of the brand with
ideas
- Also
comfortable with audio and video formats, such as one-to-one interviews
and moderating panels
