The Account Manager is a part of the Hosted Buyer team and is jointly responsible for the recruitment and management of Hosted Buyers and Group Coordinators for The Meetings Show and The Business Travel Show Europe.

The Hosted Buyer Programme ensures the attendance of top-level decision makers to the events by arranging their travel/accommodation and organising one to one pre-scheduled appointments with suppliers of their choice at the event.

The role, reporting to the Hosted Buyer Recruitment Manager, requires a highly organised, well presented professional, capable of working efficiently, in a highly pressured environment with a team of permanent and temporary staff. 

Regular travel is expected to be a key feature of this role.

This role is based in our London office. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Account Management of the Hosted Buyer recruitment campaign involving the sourcing and securing of third-party Group Coordinators.
  • Daily account management and monitoring of hosted buyer Group Coordinators including providing weekly updates, attending meetings and events, performance management, development of incentives and processing payments post-show.
  • Supporting marketing with dedicated Hosted Buyer social media campaign and activity.
  • Play key part in setting up Hosted Buyer online systems with appointed software supplier, including event registration form, in system emails and workflows required to facilitate online applications, qualification, one to one appointment scheduling and travel arrangements.
  • Liaison with technology provider to resolve buyer registration issues.
  • Overall management of TMS Post Event Tours schedule, including sourcing, pitching and liaising with host destinations as well as vetting and management of applications.
  • Close liaison with sales, marketing, and senior management colleagues.
  • Production and presentation of weekly reports and other reporting as required to directors and wider team.
  • Regular attendance at industry networking and education events, face to face meetings throughout the UK to promote the show, establish contacts and recruit Hosted Buyers onto the programme.
  • Administration and attendance of The Meetings Show advisory board including RSVPs, meeting notes plus travel and accommodation arrangements.
  • Management of contract with external qualifier on TMS. Maintaining the relationship and keeping them up to date with qualification criteria and buyer lists. Reviewing comments and giving final approval to their work.
  • Working with the marketing and hosted buyer team on the creation of promotional collateral for hosted buyers, group coordinators and fam trips.
  • Onsite Event duties: Welcoming and check-in of guests at Hosted buyer welcome reception and pre-show conference. Working on the hosted buyer information desk in the hosted buyer lounge assisting with buyer queries. Meeting with existing and new clients to generate new business for future events as well as maintaining existing contracts. Buyer management of the fam trip attendees.


The Candidate will have:

  • Account Management or Customer Relationship experience within the meetings/hospitality/travel industry.
  • Presentation and negotiation skills, in order to secure Group Coordinators some of whom may be C Level.
  • A proven understanding of and commitment to growing the program through a business development approach.
  • Proven and effective organisation skills within an event management environment.
  • Capacity to manage a heavy workload while maintaining critical attention to detail.
  • Strong technical skills and aptitude for learning bespoke internal systems.
  • Willingness to travel to client meetings and other industry events, sometimes outside of office hours.
  • Some knowledge of event registration systems would be beneficial, but not essential.
