We are looking for an Editor-in-Chief to join our The BHN Group (BHN) team. You will oversee editorial and custom content creation and delivery at the direction of the BHN President for a digital-media product launch that will be built around unique, exclusive hotel-investment oriented editorial content as well as advertising and custom-content geared toward partner seeking to connect with high-level executives in the investment, ownership, development, branding, and financial aspects of the hotel industry. 

Additionally, you will be responsible for oversight, management, and strategy for the digital-media product. You will collaborate with The BHN Group’s events staff for programming development as needed. 

This is a remote position and is open to candidates based in the United States. We also have an office in Secaucus, New Jersey for those who favor to be in an office.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Works in conjunction with the editorial team to devise content strategy in digital, social, and custom settings while executing content in all channels
  • Collaborates with supervisor for all hiring and staff evaluations including freelance writers
  • Plans budgets while also managing freelance budgets accordingly
  • Maintains responsibility for all editorial content in all channels, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and editorial integrity
  • Authors big-picture analysis articles regularly for print and online distribution, and supports day-today news/editorial
  • Represents The BHN Group’s editorial functions through participation in speaking engagements; moderating, leading, participating in industry panels
  • Supports The BHN Group’s conference programming through participation in programming calls and identifying topics of coverage and speakers as needed
  • Develops strategy for the digital-media component’s presence at The BHN Group’s events and partner events
  • Manages e-newsletter production and distribution
  • Works closely with The BHN Group’s client-facing service team and freelance resources to ensure custom content objectives are met for commercial partners
  • Partners with The BHN Group and production team on site layout to ensure editorial objectives are incorporated into website design/layout
  • Supports onsite programming at The BHN Group’s conferences by conducting interviews, covering sessions, and creating content for e-newsletter/website distribution

 

Who You Are:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Strong hospitality industry knowledge and desire to learn more
  • Substantial experience in editorial creation, production, graphic design, and distribution
  • Efficient management of staff, budget, and time
  • Possess strong management, interpersonal and editorial skills.
  • Highly organized
  • Adept in collaboration with a variety of team members: editors, sales colleagues, internal fulfillment teams, marketing, sponsorship and event operations teams, and management
  • Self-starter, highly motivated
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Execute and deliver results against tight deadlines
  • Strong computer skills required, including but not limited to proficient with the following programs: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Salesforce, and LinkedIn
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to use the internet as a resource for research
  • Ability to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner; to work quickly, accurately, and under minimal supervision
  • Anticipate needs of work so that projects, meetings, and workflow continue uninterrupted and within required deadlines, quickly and efficiently resolving any issues that arise
  • Work with spirit of enthusiasm, teamwork, cooperation, and a sense of urgency
  • Must demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, and can scan, verify, draft, compile, edit, and update documents and correspondence quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work professionally in a global environment
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and cooperatively work towards improvement
