As part of the carrier’s regional management team, Boyd’s role includes responsibility for corporate and internal communications, media relations, earned brand and product communications and crisis management. As the company’s chief regional spokesman, his role includes extensive crisis communications responsibilities, including internal message delivery training, as well as support of both tactical and strategic social media outreach activities designed to create deeper brand engagement with consumers. SIA’s communications programs headed by Boyd have consistently garnered “Best of Show,” Platinum, Gold and Silver awards for public relations and publicity by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International, and was also named one of the Top 25 Minds in Marketing by the organization. After training at Burson-Marsteller, Boyd began his career with Hilton Hotels Corporation. Further international experience was gained with the company’s Conrad Hotels brand, managing PR for luxury properties on several continents. Boyd subsequently joined SZM Public Relations’ Los Angeles office, where he held responsibility for travel and tourism accounts. Boyd holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He also attended the University of Paris – Sorbonne and is a past member of the North American Airline PR Association, The Seminar (organizing committee member) and The Wisemen. He is founding board secretary of the We Teach Science Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing middle school student proficiency in math and science. In his personal time, Boyd is an avid distance cyclist who has participated in the California AIDS Ride, a 625-mile fund-raising bike trek from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
