SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Northstar Travel Media, the world’s largest business-to-business media company serving the travel and meetings industries, has acquired ProMedia.travel, publisher of The Beat, Procurement.travel, Management.travel and The Transnational. ProMedia.travel serves the global corporate travel management industry with on-line subscription information products, e-newsletters, websites, research, custom marketing, print, face-to-face events, and social media. The acquisition of ProMedia strengthens Northstar’s position in the corporate travel management market, where it currently owns the category-leading publishing brand, Business Travel News. ProMedia.travel was founded in 2006 by long-time corporate travel media executives, Tim Reid, Jay Campbell, David Jonas, Louis Magliaro and Mary Ann McNulty to offer digital media and information services to the global corporate travel management industry. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

 

Reid will lead the Northstar Travel Media commercial travel group and Campbell will head up editorial operations. The division will be known as The BTN Group. This is the third acquisition that Northstar has announced this year. In January, the company announced the acquisition of the Home Based Travel Agent trade shows and the launch of Travel Weekly’s CruiseWorld 2010 and LeisureWorld 2010 trade shows. In March, the company acquired the Neilsen Business Media Travel Group brands Business Travel News, Successful Meetings, Incentive and Meeting News. “We are actively investing in our core markets through organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions that offer our customers a broader range of information and marketing channels,” said Kemp. “We are taking advantage of a weak economy to strengthen our competitive positions because we’re bullish about our core markets, our brands and our leadership teams,” he said.
